The Powell-Cotton Museum, House and Gardens are situated within Quex Park in Birchington, Kent. Quex House was formerly the family home of Major Percy Powell-Cotton and in addition he established the Powell-Cotton Museum to house his immense collection of Natural History and artefacts that he collected on his many explorations within Africa and Asia.

This unique collection of historic and scientific interest is beautifully displayed and open to the public as well as visiting students and researchers. Within the 7 acres of formal gardens and parkland the Historic Walled Garden needs urgent financial help to preserve the many original features of its historic use and the collections of tender exotics, fruit trees, cacti, succulents and pelargoniums. Work is ongoing to preserve the glasshouse structures and to raise heritage fruit and vegetable varieties.

Our aim is to provide a therapeutic space for all to enjoy.

As a Charitable Trust that does not receive any statutory funding we are always extremely grateful for the additional support we receive from our visitors and donors. Our work is varied and includes maintaining the vast collections based at the museum, looking after the house and gardens; as well as working with individuals and groups to provide volunteering opportunities and education for the local community.
